  • About The Role

  • At Guide Dogs, we believe technology has the power to transform lives, especially for those with sight loss. As IS Education Support – Assistive Technology, you’ll play a crucial role in helping our staff and volunteers make the most of technology by leading training and communication around assistive technology and digital tools.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC), and we are looking for someone to start as soon as possible to support ongoing projects and training initiatives.

You’ll develop and deliver engaging training through 1-1 coaching, webinars, e-learning, and classroom-based sessions, ensuring our people have the confidence and skills to use technology effectively. Your expertise in Windows 11, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and digital learning platforms will be key in supporting our teams to work more efficiently and inclusively.

This is a role that blends technical knowledge with creativity, allowing you to research new training methods, collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, and support key business projects. You’ll also act as a subject matter expert in assistive technology, advising on best practices and creating accessible training materials to support staff and volunteers with a range of disabilities.

If you thrive in a training and education-focused role, enjoy working in a project-driven environment, and want to make a real impact through technology, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re seeking a passionate and knowledgeable assistive technology specialist who is also an experienced trainer. You’ll have:

    • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, including tools that support vision impairment, neurodiversity, and hearing loss.

    • A strong background in training and education, with a recognised training qualification such as the Award in Education and Training Level 3 (formerly PTLLS) or Certificate in Education and Training Level 4 (formerly CTLLS), or equivalent digital learning experience.

    • Experience delivering engaging training programmes, including 1-1 coaching, virtual training, and webinars, to support staff and volunteers in using assistive technology effectively.

    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to break down technical concepts into clear, accessible learning materials.

    • Experience developing training content using digital learning platforms.

    • Proficiency in Windows 11, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office 365.

    • Experience working in a project environment, supporting business change through technology.

A Project Management qualification (Agile or Prince2) would be beneficial, but not essential.

  • About Us

  • No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.

We value in-person collaboration with our teams and those we support, so the ability to travel to our sites is needed. This role offers flexibility in location, with the option to be based near one of our key office sites in Leamington, Reading, London or our National Centre near Warwick.

However, we understand that the right candidate may be based elsewhere, and we’re open to discussing other locations. The role requires a presence in a Guide Dogs office at least two days per week, but beyond that, we offer a hybrid working arrangement that allows for flexibility while ensuring strong collaboration with colleagues and teams. Home-based could also be considered for this role. Most team meetings take place in Reading or National Centre, Leamington so access to either of these locations is important.

You’ll be working 35 hours per week, worked 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

We encourage all candidates to disclose relevant information, and we assure you that it will be handled confidentially and fairly.

Guide Dogs follow Safer Recruitment practices to ensure we are safeguarding the vulnerable people we work with. As part of this, we require a full work history with any gaps accounted for & a minimum of 2 professional referee details fully covering the past 5 years. If you are applying for a disclosure role, please note that you will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and sign up to the DBS update service.
