  • About The Role

  • At the Guide Dogs we’re driven by a powerful mission: to help people with sight loss live the life they choose. Our guide dogs play a life-changing role in that journey — and behind every guide dog is a dedicated team ensuring they’re happy and healthy.

We’re looking for two compassionate and experienced Dog Wellbeing Technician – Team Leaders to join our team and help lead this vital work.

In this rewarding role, you’ll take the lead in organising the day-to-day work of the Dog Wellbeing Technician team at our Redbridge site. From managing rotas and assigning tasks, to leading team meetings and ensuring smooth operations, you’ll make sure everything runs efficiently for the benefit of our dogs and the people they will go on to support. You’ll provide direct line management, coaching and training to technicians and volunteers, helping them build confidence, grow their skills, and deliver excellent care.

Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you’ll take an active role in the hands-on care of our dogs. This includes overseeing routine husbandry, monitoring and responding to health concerns, supporting behavioural development, and ensuring our accommodation and treatment areas meet the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. You’ll work closely with our Dog Health and Wellbeing Specialists, guide dog owners, and volunteers, offering training and advice to support day-to-day canine healthcare.

This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in animal care who’s ready to step into a leadership role. You should be organised, approachable, and passionate about making a difference — both for our dogs and the people they serve.

No two people with sight loss are the same, and none of our people are either. So, we are proud to offer a range of person-centred benefits that can support each member of staff in ways that really mean something to them – and show them how much they mean to us. We offer a flexible benefits package, discounts and cashback scheme, a generous holiday allowance and matched contributory pension scheme to care for our people.

We value in-person collaboration with our teams and those we support, so the ability to travel to our sites is needed for this role. We support hybrid working arrangements, so you have flexibility to work in a way that’s best for you.

This role will be based on site at our Redbridge office, working closely with a team of Wellbeing Technicians. You’ll be working 35 hours per week on a rota basis covering Monday to Sunday. Shifts will be between the hours of 7am and 9pm with the requirement to cover 1 in 3 weekends.
