As Guide Dog Trainer Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of guide dog training. Leading a team of Guide Dog Trainers (GDTs), you’ll oversee the quality assurance of their training, ensure productive outcomes, and support the successful progression of dogs into their partnerships. You’ll lead, develop, and inspire your team while ensuring every dog receives the best possible training to change a life.
Leading your team, you’ll be responsible for their day-to-day management, supervision, and development. You’ll provide technical guidance, coaching, and support, ensuring high training standards and compliance with policies, procedures, and safeguarding regulations. You’ll work closely with the Supply Manager to oversee the smooth transition of dogs into training, allocating workloads effectively and ensuring training meets the needs of our waiting list customers. You’ll observe training sessions, provide constructive feedback, and ensure training quality and efficiency, identifying any remedial actions where necessary.
Your role also includes supporting new staff, helping them transition into the team, and ensuring their development is aligned with operational needs. You’ll contribute to the local business plan and collaborate with leadership to solve resource challenges and maintain smooth service delivery.
Your strong experience in dog training and team leadership, makes this the perfect role for you. You’ll have a strong background in technical supervision, quality assurance, and staff development, as well as the ability to manage training programmes effectively.
You’ll be confident in observing and assessing dog training, providing guidance on improvements, and ensuring dogs progress efficiently to a ‘match ready’ standard. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential, as you’ll work closely with staff, volunteers, and senior managers to ensure the highest level of service delivery.
You’ll use your strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise workloads. Experience working with volunteers is a plus, as you’ll also play a role in their supervision and development.

This role will be based on site at our Atherton site, working closely with a team of guide dog trainers. You’ll be working 35 hours per week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
