    Come and join us as a motivated and thoughtful Access Assistant and be part of something life‑changing - helping people with sight loss live the life they choose.

    As an Access Assistant at Guide Dogs, you’ll provide essential practical and person-centred support to a Habilitation Specialist enabling them to work, travel and carry out their role confidently, independently and effectively. The Access Assistant will be an expert in employee empowerment, supporting our employee to thrive in the workplace.

    Our Access Assistants play a huge part in ensuring everything we do enables us to deliver on our purpose and exceed expectations.

    This role will be covering Hamilton and the surrounding areas it is essential that candidates hold a full driving licence and access to a vehicle and is located within this area.

    Key Responsibilities:

    What you’ll do:
    • Computer literate with a good knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages.
    • Excellent observational skill with the ability to provide clear and accurate descriptions
    • Provide sighted guiding and practical support during habilitation sessions, meetings, and travel.
    • Assist with transport arrangements, journey planning, and occasional overnight stays.
    • Support communication and documentation, including note-taking, reading documents, and managing calendars.
    • Retrieve resources and information from internal systems to aid planning and development.
    • Promote independence while ensuring safeguarding and wellbeing for children and young people.
    • Assist with guide dog care when required.
    • Commit to ongoing learning and development.
    What we’re looking for:

    Excellent organisational and communication skills.
    Comfortable with travel and working around dogs.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow GDPR guidelines.

    • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the role will require a close working relationship with the person being supported.
