    As a Risk Assurance Analyst at Guide Dogs, you’ll strengthen our control environment by ensuring risks are effectively managed and that our processes are safe, compliant and operating efficiently. You’ll play a key role in delivering assurance across the organisation by assessing controls and enhancing procedures. The Risk Assurance Analyst will be an expert in risk management, control assessment and process improvement. Our Risk Assurance Analysts play a huge part in ensuring everything we do enables us to deliver on our purpose and exceed expectations.

    This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week on a six-month contract assignment. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility while working as part of a collaborative and supportive team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing controls across the organisation to verify their design adequacy and operational effectiveness.
    • Perform control testing using appropriate methodologies including inquiry, observation, inspection, and evaluation. 
    • Document effectiveness of controls collaborating with stakeholders to identify and support effective mitigation strategies. 
    • Monitor the implementation of control improvements and validate their effectiveness.
    • Review and analyse existing procedures and processes to identify control gaps and improvement opportunities and engage with process owners regarding recommendations.
    • Liaise with process owners to rewrite and update procedures and processes to ensure appropriate controls are embedded into standard practices. 
    • Maintain a comprehensive record of assurance testing, updating the risk register with the control effectiveness rating. 
    • Participate in risk assessment activities and contribute to the identification of emerging risks and the maintenance of the risk register and controls.
    • Contribute to content creation in liaison with the Learning team for internal training to improve staff understanding of effective control.

You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced, stakeholder-focused environment with a dedicated focus on strengthening controls and delivering high-quality assurance outcomes, whilst being committed to maintaining strong governance, compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll act with integrity and honesty in everything you do.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Educated to A level standard (QCF Level 3 / SQCF Levels 6-7)
    • Achievement of 5 GCSE passes or equivalent with at least a grade C or 5 in Maths & English (QCF level 2 / SQCF level 5).
    • Demonstrable experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance or related field; preferably within a matrix organisation
    • Demonstrable experience with control testing methodologies and documentation standards.
    • Demonstrable experience with delivery of controls assurance and consistent reporting of findings.
    • Demonstrable ability to successfully engage and consult with diverse stakeholder groups to ensure embedding of changes. 
    • Demonstration of high integrity and professionalism. 
    • Proven experience of effective remote working remotely with strong self-management delivering objectives and communication skills.
